This is the complete Privacy Policy. Effective and last updated August 20, 2026.
1. Scope and contact
This policy applies to the Clypy applications, website, licensing, support, and relay services. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to
[email protected]. You can also review the self-service options on our
Privacy Choices page.
2. Information handled by Clypy
Clipboard and app data. Clips, search indexes, settings, pairing keys, and related app data are stored on your devices. Clip content is encrypted on-device before sync, and Clypy does not have the keys needed to read encrypted synced content.
Service metadata. When you use online services, systems may process limited technical data such as IP address, timestamps, request size, app version, device or operating-system type, and relay availability. This data is used to deliver and secure the service, not to build advertising profiles.
Optional website analytics. If you allow analytics in this browser, Google Analytics measures page visits and download-link choices, including the selected platform, package format, app version, and destination URL. We use this to understand demand and improve the website, not for targeted advertising. You can change this choice on the Privacy Choices page.
Purchases, identity, and support. Clypy stores a normalized purchase email, hashed or redacted provider purchase references, entitlement state, and device sessions so one lifetime purchase can be recovered across platforms. Payment providers send us the purchase, receipt, license, status, and contact details needed to fulfil an order, prevent abuse, answer a request, and issue a refund. Clypy does not receive your full payment-card number or store email verification codes in readable form.
3. Local intelligence and sensitive content
Semantic search, OCR, classification, and secret detection are designed to run on your hardware. Clypy does not use your clips to train AI models. Where the operating system exposes the necessary signal, copies from password managers can be excluded. Detected secrets can be concealed and configured to expire from history; these controls reduce risk but cannot guarantee that sensitive content is never captured.
4. Why information is used
We process information to provide local history, encrypted device sync, licensing, purchases, refunds, updates, and support; protect the service and users; diagnose failures; comply with law; and improve reliability. Depending on local law, these activities rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating a secure product, consent where requested, or a legal obligation.
5. Sharing and service providers
We may share the minimum necessary information with providers that host the website or relay, process purchases and licenses, deliver email, distribute the apps, or help us handle support. Apple, Google, Dodo Payments, and any optional transport you enable process data under their own terms. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transaction with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
6. Retention, deletion, and recovery
Local clips remain until you delete them, an expiry rule removes them, or you reset the app. Deletion is sent to currently paired devices when they next sync, but copies outside Clypy or in device backups may remain under your control. Relay sync is designed to pass encrypted data rather than keep a readable clipboard archive. Purchase and entitlement mappings are retained while the lifetime purchase remains valid and afterward where needed for refunds, fraud prevention, tax, disputes, and legal obligations. Authentication challenges expire after 10 minutes; device sessions expire or are revoked on sign-out, suspicious reuse, or account deletion. Account deletion removes the active email identity and sessions while required transaction records may be pseudonymized and retained. If every paired device and recovery key is lost, Clypy cannot decrypt or restore encrypted clip content.
7. Security and international processing
We use technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information handled, but no system is completely secure. Do not email clip content, passwords, recovery keys, or full card details to support. Providers may process information outside your country; where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for those transfers.
8. Your choices and rights
You can delete local history, reset the app, remove a paired device, stop future sync, and rotate pairing credentials from the product controls described in Help. Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, or withdraw consent. We may need to verify your request and may retain records when law permits. You may complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Children and policy changes
Clypy is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required where they live. If you believe a child provided personal information through support or purchasing, contact us. We may update this policy as the product or law changes. We will post the new date here and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your rights.
